WE have moved!  After nearly 50 years at Musselburgh Pharmacy, Southern Cameras has moved!  
We are now located at Baylis The Chemist at 267 King Edward Street, South Dunedin

Musselburgh Pharmacy had a strong Photographics Dept for more than 40 years and it all began by accident.

" Back then a friend of Max's asked if we could supply him with two Pentax SLRs (ME-Supers),and as a long-time Pentax owner Himself, Max decided that we could; mate-rates at that. Impressed by the product he came to the conclusion we could sell these things in numbers... if the price was right. Deep-Discount on Camera equipment was nearly unheard of in NZ back then. Nevertheless we went ahead and bought three more cameras. They were gone in a week. A display advertisement in the local paper later and we were on the way.... "

Starting in 2016,  Analogue aka film photography is making a comeback, we now stock film from Lomography, Kodak, and Ilford in formats from the tiny 110 cartridge to 35mm to120 roll film, we can even source large format 4x5" Sheet film as well!  

 We also supply chemicals  and equipment to process B+W films at home!

I ( Hayden) joined the team in 2002 and feel that i was in on the ground floor so to speak with the then emerging Digital Technology. Since late 2003 Digital Photography has really taken hold, and with my interest in computers and photography im lucky that i have tried a lot of different software programs from basic online editors to top of the line programs such as Photoshop, so i can help point you in the right direction when it comes to 'touching up' those precious memories.

 Im a keen photographer myself, Shooting digital AND film cameras of various formats, I also develop my own Black & White films at home, so with my digital, and analogue knowledge, i can offer advice, tips and tricks to help you get the most out of your photography

We are open Monday to Friday 8:30am - 5:30pm and Saturday's 9:30am - 12:30pm
